A group of ten sentenced of digital abuse against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for engaging in the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced charges of disseminating false claims regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to posting malicious remarks about the husband and wife's 24-year age gap.

The court issued suspended jail terms of a maximum of eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has not yet been published.

A persistent false narrative claiming that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has spread widely since her husband's initial election in 2017.

This latest legal outcome in France comes as the Macrons initiating a defamation lawsuit in the United States against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the first lady's identity.

Their lawsuit states that Owens brushed aside all credible evidence that refuted her assertions opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.

Owens has often echoed these assertions on her podcast and social media channels, and in March 2024 declared that she would bet her whole career on her insistence that Mrs. Macron was born a man.

Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her now-husband when she worked as an educator at his high school.

The couple entered into matrimony in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
