The second-hand shopping app has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes without notifying every member regarding the update. Digital Channels Backlash Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration. The company said the revised method more closely matches similar services. They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction. Measurement Approach Changes Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Member Experiences Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Another user, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said. Required Changes Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products". "This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained. Service Background The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users. It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
